CAPCA invites top-notch guest speakers to its monthly meetings, from heads of key government regulatory organizations to experts on specific topics—such as fire-prevention and control, weather forecasting, and marine environmental issues.

CAPCA offers members-only classes on a wide range of subjects, from marine electricity and offshore safety to radar operation and license-renewal, taught by experienced experts. Members also receive discounts on courses that CAPCA provides for the public.

As a CAPCA member of ABYC, you can gain access to all its standards online without charge. Other benefits include FREE extensive and detailed standards-based technical consulting from a staff of experts; extensive education and training opportunities, with course and seminar discounts; save money on publications; be aware of what lies ahead for standards in your field; and become a certified marine technician in electrical, refrigeration and air conditioning, diesel engine systems, gasoline engine systems, corrosion, composite boat building, marine systems, or standards.
Special Events
CAPCA schedules special professional and social events for members and their families throughout the year. Examples include tours of the U.S. Naval Academy Museum, the USCG buoy-tender James Rankin, and the high-tech ship’s bridge simulator at the Maryland Institute for Technical and Graduate Studies (MITAGS).

CAPCA members have access to up-to-date information on merchant mariner licensing, regulatory and legislative initiatives on the federal and state level, USCG alerts and advisories, new standards published by the American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC), and more. CAPCA also publishes a monthly newsletter, The Log, that provides timely information and articles of general maritime interest.
