Kathy Bergren Smith spent more than twenty years bringing the maritime world to life through her words and photographs. As the East Coast correspondent for WorkBoat magazine, she covered the gritty, fascinating world of commercial vessels and the people who work them. For over a decade, she was the staff photographer at the Port of Baltimore, capturing the pulse of one of America’s busiest harbors. Today, she makes her home on Maryland’s West River—just a short distance from where the Levin J. Marvel foundered.
